Chihiro Honda

Chihiro Honda

Chihiro Honda is an artist whose practice explores the relationship between material, body, and consciousness.
Living with titanium implanted in her spine, she works with metal as both a physical presence and a conceptual mediator—an element that unsettles the boundary between inside and outside.

Her work focuses on the moment when things “stand,” observing how slight shifts in gravity, balance, or arrangement generate changes in perception. She listens to these subtle displacements—vibrations, gaps in sound, or variations in light—approaching space much like improvised music, where small differences allow structure to emerge.

Honda is drawn to traces of repair, ritualistic forms, and exposed frameworks that reveal how all things exist within ongoing processes rather than fixed states. Using metal as a medium that spans from the body to architecture and planetary scale, she examines the structures that arise between material and mind, linking individual experience to larger spatial and temporal contexts.
