Chihiro Honda is an artist.
She is interested in the concept of a place that is born from boundaries and play. This has developed into an interest in folklore, magic（Jujutsu）, rituals, cultural anthropology and terroir. She thinks that “boundaries” establish existence by creating divisions, and that “play” is a mechanism that brings things and events to a place. Her works primarily with iron and photographs to create her works. The act of polishing the surface of iron to a mirror-like finish seen in my recent works is derived from the fact that bronze mirrors were made by polishing their surfaces in ancient times.
