2024, Tokyo
This group of works consists of 111 polished square pyramids, glass works, and photographic works, and is a site-specific sculptural installation that fills the space. The number 111 is borrowed from the number of doors in Michael Ende’s “Das Gefängnis der Freiheit”. The iron sculptures are made by welding together iron plates, and are hollow inside. They resemble houses, or human or animal skin, or even cells. Each one makes a sound when it is bumped into. In order to be silent, they need to be kept at a distance from each other. In contrast to the way they are positioned, in the performance, I tried to make sounds by crashing the sculptures together. This is a group of sculptures that are variable, with the gaps between the works changing depending on the space.
