This installation was inspired by the character “千” (sen), which appears in the artist’s name and signifies “a thousand” in Buddhist cosmology—symbolizing boundlessness or infinity. While the present moment is fleeting and ungraspable, accumulation can evoke a sense of eternity.
At the center of the work is a self-made, 1,000-page book, each page printed with a human face. The pages are so thin that before turning, the faces overlap and merge; once turned, the image distorts and can no longer be clearly perceived.
The space is filled with sensory layers: the sound of turning paper, the crackling of fire, dripping water, and ambient wind. Projected videos of flowing rivers and burning flames accompany these sounds.
Within this chaotic, layered environment, the simple act of turning a page becomes a meditative gesture—a quiet resistance to time’s dissolution.
