Time, River, Bridge

Time, River, Bridge

This series uses electronic billboards installed in street-facing windows, working with words as material. Randomized combinations of text are continuously displayed, drawing on place names specific to each exhibition site. In Kyoto, these included the names of rivers; in Ebisu, Tokyo, the names of slopes, roads, and bridges. These are paired with fragments of time, such as dates of historically significant events connected to each location.

Through these fragments of time and place, the series drifts between memory and imagination, evoking stories that might never have existed in reality. Words that appear and disappear spin out countless meanings, neither beginning nor end, correct nor incorrect. They form a hollow that echoes like a stratum of time, revealing the symbolic interplay between language and place through a persistent urban rhythm.
